The blog below is about the trip on Koukla to the Caribbean from 2013 – 2014 only

In the fall of 2001, the Cowan family left their home port of Rockland abroad their schooner Koukla, bound for the Caribbean. You can read all about it here.

Over a decade later, they are setting sail yet again, this time with two new crew members. In addition to this blog, you can follow their adventures on Facebook and Twitter.

NOTE: the trip is over and we all got back safe and sound in June. We are going to put up some of the late posts that we never got to.

Good to hear that you’re on your way after the motor problems. Hopefully, that will be the end of the problems and smooth sailing from here now on. We pulled Gray Ghost before we went to VA for a week. I spent the day doing the fall strip down, so we are getting ready to cover her for the winter. Yes, we are green with envy that you are on your way south! We look forward to following your progress. Be safe. Janice

Hello there! We met in St Lucia at the pot luck! Now i’m serching the website for a phone number, but no luck. We are now watching your boat in Roseau and it looks like you have been dragging a bit, but we are not 100% sure, but looks like you are hooked on again. Wanted to check with you, but as it looks like you are on the boiling lake hike, we do not want to stress you back when not sure as that hike is the hardest ever already. Getting the Marine center to keep a lookout now. And are ready to help out if you will be dragging again. Hope to see you! SusieQ , Sweden

Hi SuzieQ, thanks for watching out for us. When we got back we checked the anchor drag alarm, and it said we hadn’t dragged. We had a lot of chain out, so that probably made it look like we were moving around a lot. Thanks for keeping an eye out! Come on over when you’re free! Koukla
